Backed by the strength and experience of Smith Senior Living, Smith Village has been the leader in premier senior living in Chicago, Illinois. Since 1924, Smith Village serves seniors in southwest Chicago with a stellar reputation for outstanding care and service. Smith Village is the only Life Plan Community in the Beverly area, and only one of two in the southwest sector of metro Chicago — the other being our sister community, Smith Crossing, in Orland Park.
That means along with exceptional residential services, residents will always have access to a full continuum of comprehensive senior health care services if they should ever need them, right on our beautiful Smith Village campus.
It’s all part of our unwavering mission as a not-for-profit organization. Our primary purpose is to enrich lives and create an environment in which individuals thrive and make the most of every day through the highest quality of services and thoughtful innovations.
Smith Village and Smith Senior Living has been caring for and enriching the lives of Chicago seniors for nearly 100 years.
Benefits of a not-for-profit organization
Being a not-for-profit organization assures you that everything we do, and every decision we make, is based on improving the lives of residents, their families and the community we serve.
That means all income is invested directly back into services and management of Smith Senior Living communities. Rather than answering to an anonymous group of investors, we hold ourselves accountable to residents and their family members, to the Beverly community, and to each other. We believe it’s this higher standard that has created and supports a resident-centered culture.
Thanks to philanthropic support and a well-managed endowment that sustain its superior quality of services, Smith Senior Living remains vital, even during lean financial years. This financial security further enhances peace of mind for residents and their families.
Honored with CARF accreditation
Since 2019, Smith Village has earned the distinct honor of CARF accreditation, a prestigious accomplishment that less than 10% of Life Plan Communities achieve internationally.
But what does that mean for you? Well, for starters, no matter where you reside within the Smith Village campus, you have the assurance that the board of trustees and management staff continually provide — and strive to improve — the highest quality of care, services, programs and facilities possible. This recognition also shows that we’ve made a specific commitment to put the needs of our residents and their families at the center of everything we do and present opportunities for improving services, encouraging feedback and serving the community.
Achieving the distinguished CARF accreditation.
Founded in 1966, CARF International (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) is a worldwide, independent, nonprofit organization focused on advancing the quality of health, human services and financial stability for service providers. In 1985, CARF expanded its expertise to other disciplines that impact seniors, which includes continuing care retirement communities (Life Plan Communities) such as Smith Village. CARF accreditation is the official industry designation that an organization is guided by rigorous internationally recognized service standards and best practices.
