Smith Village Begins the COVID-19 Vaccination Process for Residents and Employees!
There is light at the end of the COVID-19 tunnel. Over 350 Residents and employees at Smith Village received their first dose of the Moderna vaccine. When a vaccine to combat Covid-19 was successfully produced in late 2020, Residents and employees of retirement homes and long-term care facilities were designated at the top of the list to receive the vaccines.
This is the first of two doses, administered by Walgreens, which will be given three weeks apart. It provides a bright spot amid the isolation and fear that COVID-19 has brought the country. Many see the vaccine as the first step to getting back to normal and resuming the life they love – with a new appreciation for their health and freedom.
This good news encourages us to reflect on the strength and resilience our Residents have shown during this unprecedented time. Even amidst a global pandemic, our community has come up with creative ways to stay in contact with friends and family, joyfully and virtually participate in our favorite activities, and look out for our fellow neighbors, but we’re all excited to get back to our regular in-person programming.
With hope and a renewed sense of optimism, Smith Village is looking forward to a happier and healthier 2021.
